Last Christmas my mother gave me a gift of some money, which I spent on a very good set of buttery, artist-quality, oil pastels. Here are some of the images I’ve created, from June-December 2016.
In June, I spent some time with a farmer’s field each day, in rural Germany, responding to the changes in light and color in relation to the time of day and the weather.
Later in June, I spent some time with my Grandmother in England, and created some images of the views near her home.
In August I hung out with the waves at Aptos, CA, marveling at the variety of colors crafted by algae in the water in response to shifting time of day and weather systems.
In November I broke my foot, and hung out at length with the woods behind my home. These images explore the changing colors of the trees seen from my home, as the forest drops her leaves through November and December and as the autumn rainstorms and bright blue skies move through.
