rites of passage, by katrina curry

The Living Room is a project of gathering words and images, music and video, with an intention to offer the nourishment of engaged connection to the natural world, to our bodies, our beings, and the beauty of Earth & Sky, Fire & Water.

Make contact in nature in different ways each day. Commune with [the natural world] silently and in dialogue. Nature is the mother of a sense of belonging … (David Richo)

The Living Room is a place to contemplate and savor what it means to be at home in our bodies, at home in the world, to live an engaged and meaningful life, and respond creatively to this gift of being.

And that is just the point…how the world, moist and beautiful, calls to each of us to make a new and serious response. That’s the big question, the one the world throws at you every morning. “Here you are, alive. Would you like to make a comment?”(Mary Oliver)

The Living Room emerged from a desire for shared creative exploration through various threads: art work, images, poetry, movement, and music, and a desire for offering this fruit with the intention of cultivating creative and loving human connection. I have a hunger for the deep visceral beauty of simple, honest creative engagement and friendship, and a thirst for conversation about being human in this world.
